The short answer
A fleet preventive maintenance checklist should cover oil and filter, all fluids, brakes, battery and charging, cooling system, belts and hoses, steering and suspension, tires, lights and safety items, a fault-code scan and a written record of findings. In Florida, cooling system, battery and air conditioning deserve extra attention through summer.
What every fleet PM visit should cover
- Engine oil and filter to the vehicle requirement
- Fluid levels and condition: coolant, brake, transmission, power steering, washer
- Brake pads, rotors, lines and parking brake
- Battery condition, terminals, starting and charging output
- Cooling system: radiator, cap, hoses, fan operation, coolant condition
- Belts and hoses for cracking, glazing and swelling
- Steering and suspension: ball joints, tie rods, bushings, shocks
- Tires: tread depth, pressure, uneven wear patterns
- Lights, wipers, horn and visible safety items
- Scan for stored and pending fault codes
- Undercarriage and leak check
- Written findings sorted by urgency
The Florida items worth extra attention
Heat and humidity change what fails first here.
**Cooling system.** Summer load plus air conditioning running all day is the hardest thing most work vehicles do. Coolant condition, cap, hoses and fan operation are worth checking every visit from spring onward.
**Battery.** Heat kills batteries faster than cold does. A battery that tested fine in January can be marginal by August.
**Air conditioning.** Not just comfort — a crew that cannot run the A/C will idle differently, or stop working.
**Brakes on stop-heavy routes.** Delivery and service routes rack up brake cycles the odometer never shows.
**Air and cabin filters.** Job-site dust and pollen load filters quickly.
Keep the record
The value of a checklist is the history behind it. When the same vehicle shows the same finding three visits running, that is a pattern worth acting on rather than a repeat repair.

Fleet service across Lake County
Total Performance Tuning works on commercial vehicles for businesses in Mount Dora, Eustis, Tavares, Leesburg, Sorrento, Umatilla, Fruitland Park, Lady Lake, Clermont, Minneola, Groveland and the surrounding Lake County area. HVAC and plumbing vans, contractor pickups, landscaping trailers, pool and pest service vehicles, delivery vans and mixed gas and diesel fleets are all handled in the same building, so one vehicle history follows the truck instead of being split across two shops.
What that looks like in practice: scheduled maintenance planned around your work week, written estimates before anything is repaired, findings sorted into what needs attention now, what to plan for and what to keep watching, and an in-house dyno for the diesel side. RepairPal Certified. MaxCare accepted. Minimum 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty on qualifying repairs, subject to plan terms.

Common questions
- How detailed should a fleet PM checklist be?
- Detailed enough that two different technicians would record the same things, and simple enough that the owner can read the result without translation.
- Does Florida heat change manufacturer intervals?
- Not by itself. The manufacturer schedule still applies, but heat and load change what is worth watching between services, particularly cooling system and battery condition.
- Should the checklist be the same for every vehicle?
- The core is the same. Diesel vehicles add fuel filters, water separators and emissions checks, and towing vehicles add driveline and cooling attention.
